Elke Kurz

Lab Manager

Project manager for protein library

I obtained a Masters in Biology at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and worked as a research associate in Germany, Italy and the US, most recently in Prof Dan Littman's lab at the Skirball Institute of Molecular Medicine of NYUSOM. My scientific background is in T-cell Immunology and Hematology. I joined Prof Michael Dustin's lab at 2013 and was one of the first people to start work in the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology's new building on the Old Road Campus.

My accomplishments as lab manager include overseeing the establishment of the new lab, including the relocation of three post-docs and two technicians from NYUSOM to Oxford. I organized ordering of microscopy equipment and serve as the liason for communication with Olympus UK. I have helped organize the regulatory oversight for the lab and also manage the Wellcome Trust funded project to produce a protein library for high throughput screening of immunological synapse requirements. I also serve on a number of committees in the Kennedy Institute of Oxford related to research operations. I established Labguru as an electronic notebook and database system to organize lab operations and documentation of projects and experiments.
