Tarrion Baird
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Biology
I am a computational biologist working jointly between the Sansom and Powrie groups, focussing on characterising and categorising IBD. Previous work in the lab identified an IBD ulceration pathotype which is associated with non-response to anti-TNF treatment (Pohin, Friedrich et al 2021). I aim to further develop their method using a machine learning approach and larger datasets, including transcriptomic, metagenomic, genotyping and proteomic data, both to further characterise existing pathotypes and to identify additional pathotypes in IBD.
I did my PhD at the university of Cambridge in Rahul Roychoudhuri’s lab. My PhD research focused on cancer immunoediting- the process by which tumours evolve to avoid the immune system during their development.
I am an ECR fellow at Reuben College and I teach immunology to undergraduate exchange students at Oxford, and run “R for everybody” workshops within my department.
