We are delighted to announce that Pernille Søgaard and Christine Doherty, both DPhil students at the Kennedy Institute, have been awarded the “Poster Presentation Prize” at the British Society of Matrix Biology (BSMB) Spring Meeting held at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, this March.

Pernille and Christine were among the three poster prize winners out of 25 posters entered for the competition.

The topic for the BSMB Spring 2015 meeting was “Location, Location, Location; the matrix and the microenvironment”, with the main focus being how the extracellular matrix creates distinct niches that provide specific environmental cues to control cell behaviour. The programme included talks by a number of internationally renowned speakers, as well as a BSMB Open Session for short talks and Poster Sessions.

Pernille said of winning the award: "I enjoyed presenting my poster and had many interesting comments and discussions. I was really delighted to win a poster prize - it is a nice motivation for the future work on my project."

Also speaking of her award, Christine commented: “It was a surprise and a very enjoyable experience. Winning any award is fantastic but to win one at a BSMB meeting is even more so, as all delegates and judges are specialists in the field. Winning this award has given a boost to my confidence especially now as I have just started writing my thesis and I think it will help with my viva preparation. I cannot thank the judges and the BSMB enough for this opportunity.”
