Katie Roberts

Strategic Projects and Events Manager

My main role is to assist with the identification and definition of strategic priorities for the Institute, helping to shape projects and coordinate their implementation. I work to ensure that the Institute is proactively positioned for scientific collaboration, external funding and industry partnerships. This includes working with KIR Principal Investigators and the NDORMS communications team to ensure the Institute’s scientific strengths, research goals and successes are captured through its communications channels, such as the Institute website and social media.

In addition, I manage the development and implementation of processes for events held at the Institute.

My PhD research, at the University of Manchester, explored how the dynamics of Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B) cell signalling relate to the cell cycle. Since graduating I have spent my time writing about science in a variety of contexts – first as a Medical Writer and then as a Content Manager in the biotechnology sector. I joined the Kennedy Institute as a Scientific Writer in 2023, transitioning to my current role in early 2025. I am also experienced with enabling others to develop their editorial skills and to craft compelling scientific writing.
