Ian Reekie

Clinical Research Fellow in Rheumatology

Ian Reekie read medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2014. His postgraduate training began in London, before he moved to Glasgow and then to Birmingham to train in ophthalmology.

In 2019 he began a Kennedy Trust funded DPhil at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology under the supervision of Prof. Chris Buckley, Prof. Mark Coles and Dr Jonathan Sherlock. His work focuses on the uveal tract of the eye, a vascular and pigmented layer within the eye which is affected by several inflammatory and degenerative diseases. He is specifically focused on the stromal cells of the uveal tract, and how understanding heterogeneity within these cells can improve our knowledge of inflammatory and degenerative eye disease.
