Declan Pang
MB DPhil student
I am in the first cohort of Cancer Research UK (CRUK) MB DPhil students, integrating a BM BCh in Clinical Medicine with a DPhil in Cancer Science.
I am in my second year of the DPhil section, working with the Powrie Group colorectal cancer (CRC) team. My research is centred around Th17 cells, a subtype of CD4+ T cells which reside primarily at mucosal surfaces and protect against invading pathogens. They have, however, been implicated in multiple autoimmune diseases and cancers, including CRC.
My work aims to characterise these Th17 in human CRC and determine how these cells impact upon disease progression.
