EVENTS
We run a vibrant programme of scientific seminars and social events, as well as supporting staff and students to host their own events and academic meetings.
Events at the Kennedy
Scientific seminars
Regular internal seminars enable students and postdocs to present their work in a confidential, supportive environment (and with free pizza!)
Weekly external seminars, delivered by high-profile visiting scientists, are open to all staff and students from the University of Oxford. For members of the Kennedy Institute, post-seminar lunches and one-to-one meetings provide an opportunity to engage with the speaker on scientific ideas and career insights. External seminars often reach capacity, so please arrive on time.
Social events
A highlight of the Kennedy Institute calendar, monthly social events bring everyone together. Each social is organised by a different research group, showcasing creative themes and a varied mix of food, drinks, and activities.
We also hold seasonal socials across the whole Department, including an International Christmas Lunch and LGBTQ+ Pride.
Support for staff- and student-led events and external events
Our Events team supports members of the Kennedy Institute to successfully run symposia, scientific meetings, and socials.
We welcome talks, mini-symposia and mini-exhibitions from industrial and commercial contacts. Interested parties can contact our Reception team: reception@kennedy.ox.ac.uk
Our Facilities
The Bernard Sunley Lecture Theatre has a capacity of 80 people seated, with movable chairs and with the functionality for hybrid meetings. We have several meeting rooms (capacity of 6 to 14 people) each with the functionality for hybrid meetings, and a large atrium.
