Research culture at the Kennedy
At the heart of the Kennedy Institute's research is a diverse group of basic and clinical scientists who are working together in a creative, inclusive, and dynamic environment to investigate the biological pathways that underpin disease.
Our funders
To retain our position as a leading centre in the UK and internationally for research into chronic inflammatory disease, and to train the next generation of scientists, the Kennedy Institute is supported by a grant portfolio worth over £85 million.
DYNAMHIX in PSC
We aim to characterise markers of liver function, intestinal inflammation and microbial metabolism over time in a cohort of patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and/or ulcerative colitis (UC). This will enable us to determine the dynamic nature of disease progression and correlations between liver and intestinal function and how these may influence the microbiome and disease outcomes.
Christopher Peel Fund for Interdisciplinary Research
Fund to support research combining mathematics, physics and biology in memory of graduate student Christopher Peel.
Career Development Programme
The Kennedy Career Development Programme supports newly established group leaders to successfully build an independent research career through a structured programme of scientific review and mentorship, accompanied by generous funding.
Biophotonic optical platform
The BioCOP project stems from the strategic partnership between the Rosalind Franklin Institute (RFI) and the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology (KIR) at the University of Oxford. It aims to establish the first of its kind high-performance co-incidence and correlation imaging over multiple length- and time-scales.
