With established clinical and economic benefits from secondary fracture prevention, the focus is on implementing effective and efficient healthcare models such as Fracture Liaison Services (FLSs). This chapter reviews several critical aspects for successful implementation of FLSs: (a) the conceptual models for FLS with evidence for effectiveness; (b) the steps for implementation, encompassing national policy, coalitions and local level activities; (c) benchmarking at the organisational and patient level and signposting to supporting resources from the International Osteoporosis Foundation.
