Liying Jin

DPhil student

I am a DPhil candidate studying under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Sansom and Prof. Paul Bowness, with a strong interest in computational biology and immunology. After receiving my B.Sc. in Biological Science and M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, I joined the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology in 2021, funded by the Kennedy Trust Studentship and Clarendon Fund Scholarship.

As part of the Versus Arthritis program, my DPhil project aims to investigate the cellular causes of HLA-B*27 associated spondyloarthritis (SpA). I will work on both peripheral blood and primary tissues from patients with axial SpA, using multi-omics approaches in immunological research to investigate the cellular and molecular basis of this disease and further help model disease initiation and pathogenesis.
