Managing, mining and visualizing open-access structural and chemical biology data
MARSDEN B.
The SGC is a pre-competitive organisation which, since 2004, has been a world-leader in determining and making available novel Human protein structures. We have taken our protein family-based approach to structural biology and extended it to create a robust chemical biology pipeline to develop high quality, highly characterised chemical probes towards a range of protein families which are then characterised in diseased-tissue assay platforms in a variety of diseases. Capturing and disseminating these workflows, that present diverse data types, scales and modalities, is a significant challenge and has required the development and implementation of novel technologies. I will present examples of the SGC’s solutions ranging from a flexible global LIMS system to tools to assist in the prioritisation of follow-up chemistry from fragment screening datasets.
