Our work in the Centre aims to identify the risk factors that put a person at risk of developing osteoarthritis with a view to producing a predictive tool that will quantify an individual person's risk.

We are also producing similar tools to predict whether patients will have a good outcome following acute knee injury, or following total joint replacement of the hip and knee. In addition, we are studying the mechanisms whereby gender affects the risk of having osteoarthritis as well as why age is associated with an increased risk of osteoarthritis.
