Do you want to lead the computational analysis and interpretation of various datasets with the goal of discovering biological pathways, patterns, and genes that are responsible for causing disease and therapeutic response in multiple myeloma?
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated Postdoctoral Research Associate in Translational Research to join Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre at the Botnar Research Centre, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), Oxford.
The purpose of the role is to lead the computational analysis and interpretation of various datasets with the goal of discovering biological pathways, patterns, and genes that are responsible for causing disease and therapeutic response in multiple myeloma. You will develop bioinformatic tools for implementing OMICS analysis. To do so you will work closely with a team of clinicians and experimental scientists.
As a Postdoctoral Research Associate Translational Research you will develop research questions, lead experimental design and perform computational analysis and interpretation of complex multimodal genomics datasets in multiple myeloma, and generate original ideas by building on existing concepts. You will write research articles for peer-reviewed and high-profile journals, book chapters, and reviews. You will raise research funds through grant applications and manage your own area of a larger research budget by providing computational support input into outline and full grant proposals.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in a discipline of direct relevance to computational research and OMICS and AI-based analysis together with a Degree-level training in biological sciences. Experience of developing scientific techniques in both wet lab and in systems biology. The ability to deliver high-quality research outputs, as demonstrated by a strong publication record and demonstrable competence in statistical data analysis including the programming languages Python and R together with excellent organisational and project management skills are essential. Experience with the analysis of single-cell RNA-sequencing data and experience of presenting research work at meetings are desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
