Petek Celik

Research Technician

Petek is a Research Technician at The William Harvey Research Institute, working on peripheral pain mechanisms with Dr Shafaq Sikandar as part of the Sensory Neurophysiology lab. Having recently obtained her MSc in Clinical Neuroscience from UCL, and holding an undergraduate Neuroscience background, Petek's interests lie with neuronal pathways underlying the endogenous opioid system.

Petek has a strong background in paroxysmal dyskinesias with the recent completion of a research project exploring a Drosophila model of dystonia.

Currently, Petek is investigating the presence of opioid receptors in spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion tissue using molecular biology techniques and will pursue clinical work with quantitative sensory testing in the upcoming year as part of this project.
